Today at uni i was takeing out the Gusset on St.2 an St.13, the reson for this was because we found out that the stations were 1-2mm off on the Port side of the boat. In order to move the station we had to make new Gussets for both St and replace them with new 1s and re-drill.

Takeing out the Gusset on St.13 was easy because it had more area you can work around while in St.2 i had to care for the other stations and the planking that was glued into place. In order to take out the gusset on St.2 i used Weges and drove them into the end of the gusset to push out the Glued zones on PVA.

After i finished with the gussets we went on to takeing off the Chine planks from each side and ripping them onto 3 peaces ( but not fully ripping the whole plank ) we ripped each peace on 17mm and 1.5m from the Ap and the other rip was 2m from the Ap. After the ripping was done we made the apoxy and started to glue up the rippings.
The reason why we ripped the planks up was because it gives u much more bend into the female boat and also it becomes much more stonger incase the plank tryed to come apart.

I also asked Chris today on why is Female boat easyer to make than Male. One of the reason he gave me was because Female boat all ur planking will be pulled towards the group because of Gravery while on Male you have to work upside down an also in order to keep ur planks in the corret place you will need alot of nails to hold them into place.

Day 2.

Today in the morning we were talking about some of the mistakes every one did on monday and we talked about how to fix the mistakes and to make sure they dont happan again.

After we finished talking we went of to do our jobs, Me,Taz,Jade,Harison,Eren and Daniel went off to finish the gussets.
Chris showed us that we need to put weight down on the stations before there glues into place by the gussets. The reson for this is so the stations dont move around when your screwing. The other factor we found out is that the Straigh Edge we used had some Glue lumps ( some 1 did'nt clean up there mess after useing it ) and that made the Straigh Edge harder to use in the area, it had lumps so we had to clean up the area of lumps before useing it.

We finished all the stations with the gussets in 2 hours.

After we finished with the stations we helped out the others with there work which included putting in Station 0 and station 1 into place on the frame. Putting on the stations is abit of thinking to do, you have to make them all plum an use weges to raise up the station on each side to make it plum.

Once station 0 was put into place we made the Center Line (CL) on the frame.
Than it was time to fit in station 1. In order to place station 1 on we had to do some thinking on how to get the water line ( WL ) on the same measurements from station 0.

samaster 2

Today for the start of samaster 2 we were talking about the new project, which is called: Rob Shaw Design.

We talked about that we hv 14 weeks to finish the boat in.
That were gana be useing red cedar.
We have 8mm Planking.
Beam at 2.4m.
LoA ( length over all ) 5.5m.
All the materials that we use have to be writen down in the Materian Book.
The frames on the boat were made on a CnC Mashine.

After we talked about the boat every 1 got given a Main Task to do. Mine is Topside Foam.

As for the start today we  cleaned the working area where were gana make the boat at. Me and Greg moved the benches in order to give us more working area around the boat.
Once we cleaned the working area we went out to do jobs for the boat, every 1 got given there own tasks by the person incharge on the Main task( setting up ).

Me and Taz got the task give to cut out the Gussets. We had to cut 12 peaces of wood that were 500mm Long. We used the Blocking Wood Method in order to get the same measurements for every timber we cut.
The blocking wood method is when you get a peace of timber ( any kind ) and clamp it to the bench u want to cut on so every time you want to cut the same length you just slide the timber up to the blocked wood.

After we found out the Width of the Gussets for each station we went to cut out each of the Gussets to the right measurements.

Once we finished cutting out the Gussets to the correct measurements we went back up to the lofting floor an handed them over to Jade and Sabastian who were incharge of glueing the Gussets onto the Sections.

The gussets were held into place by 8 Screws 4 on each side over the CL, and it also had some PVA glue.
